Operation Christmas Child is a worldwide children’s project that uses simple shoe boxes filled with Christmas gifts to let hurting children know that they are loved and not forgotten. They plan to help more than 8.5 million children this year. The number of children who have received shoe box gifts since 1993 exceeds the populations of Australia and South Africa combined.

Generous kids, families, businesses and organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and 10 additional countries will fill more than 8 million shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, necessity items, family photos and notes of encouragement for needy children.

Visit their web site for directions on how your family can pack a Christmas shoe box for a needy child.

The local collection site is Grace Chapel, 228 S 4th Street, Brighton.
